The 67-acre Donaldson Woods Nature Preserve is a rare stand of virgin hardwood forest similar to that which once blanketed most of Indiana. The 19th century grist mill, once powered by waters from cave river waters, in its heyday ran day and night as farmers waited up to ten days to grind their corn and wheat into meal.
